What is GST Changes for Renewable Energy Devices about?
The 45th GST Council Meeting discussed increasing the GST rate on specified renewable energy devices from 5% to 12% starting October 2021. It also discussed allowing renewable energy projects to pay GST in a 70:30 ratio for goods and services from July 2017 to December 2018. Additionally, a basic customs duty will be imposed on solar imports starting April 2022 to encourage local manufacturing.
