What is Creep and Shrinkage in Lightweight Concrete about?
This report summarizes research on the creep, shrinkage, and prestress losses of high-performance lightweight concrete (HPLC). Two HPLC mixes were developed with strengths of 8,000 psi and 10,000 psi and unit weights around 117-119 lb/ft3. Testing found the HPLC had lower creep but higher shrinkage than normal-weight concrete. Prestress losses measured in HPLC girders were generally less than predicted by design codes. The AASHTO-LRFD refined method provided a conservative estimate of losses. Overall, HPLC
