The document analyzes the relationship between glucose levels and cardiovascular risk using data from 20 studies with over 95,000 individuals. It finds that higher fasting glucose levels of 6.1 mmol/L and higher 2-hour post-load glucose levels of 7.8 mmol/L are associated with a 33% and 58% increased risk of cardiovascular events respectively, compared to levels of 4.2 mmol/L. The relationship between glucose and cardiovascular risk appears to extend into the non-diabetic range.
