Can I read Crystallographic Aspects of Transformations in the β, β' and ζ Phases of the Silver-zinc Alloys on EtoBox?

Crystallographic Aspects of Transformations in the β, β' and ζ Phases of the Silver-zinc Alloys by W.J Kitchingman is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Crystallographic Aspects of Transformations in the β, β' and ζ Phases of the Silver-zinc Alloys about?

The structures and transformations which occur in the silver-zinc alloys of around 50 at. per cent composition are reviewed. The crystallographic relations in the 8' and 4 phases are examined. It is shown that the @' + 5 transformation may be brought about by an interchange of nearest neighbour silver and zinc atoms in order to produce certain (112) planes containing only zinc atoms. A movement corresponding to a shear in the [lli] direction of rows of adjacent zinc atoms in these planes completes the transformation. The mechanism gives a simple explanation of the partial order of the 5 phase found by other workers and also gives an explanation for the structures of the anti-phase domains which occur in the /3 + 5 transformation previously described on the basis of experimental work by the author. applications of these results to the transformations reviewed are given.
