What is Rizal about?

Rizal spent 45 happy days in Japan from February to April 1888. During this time, he fell in love with a Japanese woman named O-Sei-San. However, he was forced to leave Japan and return to his work fighting for Philippine independence. He left with a heavy heart after bidding a tender farewell to O-Sei-San in his diary. Rizal then boarded a ship bound for the United States, accompanied by a Japanese journalist named Tetcho Suehiro who was also forced to leave Japan by his government.
