What is Immune System Organs and Functions about?
The four main organs of the immune system are the bone marrow, thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes. The bone marrow produces immune cells including B cells, natural killer cells, and T cell precursors. The thymus matures T cells by eliminating those that could harm the body. The spleen filters blood and initiates immune responses when macrophages and dendritic cells present antigens to B and T cells. Lymph nodes also filter lymph and initiate immune responses through antigen presentation to immune cells.
