Two teenage boys, Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade, saved children from a burning church while on their way home. When they noticed the abandoned church on fire, they stopped to help while their friend Dallas Winston stayed in the car. Upon hearing screams, Curtis and Cade broke down boards and jumped into the burning building, rescuing trapped kids inside. Both boys were injured in the process but the children they saved would have otherwise perished in the fire. The community praised their heroic efforts.
