What is Accumulation of Phytoalexins in Potato-cell Suspension Cultures about?

Potato-cell suspension cultures (ex Kennebec tuber tissue) accumulate the sesquiterpenoid phytoalexins lubimin, rishitin and solavetivone after inoculation with sporangia ofeither a compatible or an incompatible race of the fungal pathogen Phytophthora infestans. The phytoalexins are present in the cells and the medium. No evidence was obtained for the formation of any metabolites of rishitin.
