About this document

Kirby Bauer Method for Antibiotic Testing by Subhradeep Ghosh is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method is used for antibiotic susceptibility testing. It involves placing discs containing antibiotics onto an agar plate inoculated with the test microorganism. After incubation, the zones of inhibition around each disc are measured to determine if the microbe is susceptible, intermediate, or resistant to that antibiotic. While it does not require specialized equipment, it is not considered the gold standard test and some organisms cannot be accurately tested with this method
