This study explores the meanings of health among individuals in The Gambia living with comorbid type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Through qualitative interviews, three main themes emerged: health as the embodiment of corporeal experiences, health as freedom, and health as a reward for virtue. The findings emphasize the complexity of lay meanings of health and advocate for their inclusion in health promotion policies to enhance equity and empowerment.
