The new method allows for analysis of randomly sampled multi-year data sets, more accurate nodal corrections, and inclusion of inferences directly in the least squares matrix. This provides more flexibility than older restrictive methods. The new technique is evaluated using synthetic test data and applied to real-world ocean station temperature and satellite altimetry time series data.
