What is Physician Sex and Analgesic Administration Patterns about?
48 hours in an aerobic atmosphere. Ninety-five percent binomial exact confidence intervals were calculated using STATA 8.2 statistical software. Results: Thirty-three division curtains were sampled, 2 (6%) (95% CI 0.7%-20.0%) grew MRSA and none (0%) (95% CI 0%-10.6%) grew VRE at 48 hours. Conclusions: MRSA is present on division curtains in the emergency department. This study suggests that division curtains, used widely in emergency departments, could be a potentially important source for the spread of MRSA infections. Discussion: This is a simple project with broad implications. This study provides an obvious avenue of future study, namely, the testing of antibiotic sensitivities on MRSA found on division curtains in the ED. It is possible that the results of this testing can provide emergency department physicians with valuable information regarding which antibiotics are most appropriate in patients with community acquired MRSA infections.
