Can I read Animals Emerging from a Hut on EtoBox?

Animals Emerging from a Hut by P. P. Delougaz is a Arts and Humanities article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Animals Emerging from a Hut about?

YOUNG animals emerging from a stall or byre in the form of a reed hut must have been a subject of particular interest to the ancient Mesopotamians beginning in the Protoliterate Period, for it was repeated in a variety of renderings in glyptic, in relief on stone bases, and in inlays. 1 This article is based on the talk given on the same subject on August 21, 1967 during the meetings of the XVIth Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale in Chicago. However, since the lecture was not read from a prepared manuscript, the two are not identical. While an oral presentation could be adequately illustrated by visual aids, such thorough illustration in print is somewhat of a luxury. Of the figures here presented I am indebted to Mrs. Elaine Kinzelberg for Nos. 4, 6, and 7, and to Professor Helene J. Kantor for Nos. 5, 9, 10, and 15-18. On the other hand, the printed article permits fuller documentation, with references and footnotes.
