About this document

Understanding Dissolved Oxygen Sensors by Hammad Ali Zaman is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Dissolved oxygen measurement is important for wastewater treatment to ensure proper levels for microorganisms. Membrane sensors allow oxygen to diffuse through the membrane and the concentration is measured electrochemically. There are two main types of cells - galvanic cells generate a voltage proportional to oxygen, while polarographic cells apply a voltage and measure the resulting current. Both rely on oxygen reduction reactions at the cathode to indirectly measure dissolved oxygen levels in the process
