1) Pentafluoroaniline can be diazotized in 80% hydrofluoric acid, yielding the diazonium salt in high yield. 2) The diazonium group can be replaced by hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, and iodine when treated with the usual reagents. Treatment with copper bronze gives decafluorodiphenyl. 3) Treatment of the neutralized diazo-solution with dimethylaniline leads to a derivative that can be reduced to give pentafluorobenzene derivatives.
