The Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana (MGPSY) scheme aims to encourage overseas Indian workers with Emigration Check Required (ECR) passports going to ECR countries to save money for their return, resettlement, and retirement. The scheme provides a government co-contribution of Rs. 1000 for overseas workers who save Rs. 4000 annually, so that upon returning to India they can use the savings for resettlement and also receive benefits like the Swavalamban pension scheme.
