What is Soil Compaction and Density Tests about?

Experiment no. 9 aimed to determine the in-situ soil density using two methods: the core cutter method and sand replacement method. For the core cutter method, soil cores were taken from two locations and their wet densities were measured. The mean dry density was calculated to be 1.297 g/cm3. For the sand replacement method, the weight of sand needed to fill a hole equal to the soil volume was measured and used to determine the bulk and dry densities of the soil, which were 1.574707 g/cm3 and 1.47728 g/cm3
