What is Characteristics of Classical Poetry about?

The document discusses the characteristics of the Classical School of Poetry, particularly during the Augustan age of English literature. It highlights that this poetry is marked by a focus on intellect over emotion, a neglect of nature, and a preference for form and conventionality. The use of closed couplets is noted, which, while initially popular, ultimately led to monotony and was unsuitable for passionate expression.
