What is Dekiff2014 Py GC MS about?

This study investigates the occurrence and spatial distribution of small potential microplastics (SPM) in beach sediments on the North Sea island of Norderney. A total of 36 sediment samples were analyzed, revealing an average of 1.7 to 2.3 SPM per kg of dry sediment, with identified materials including various types of plastics and organic additives. The findings indicate that SPM distribution is relatively homogeneous and does not correlate with visible plastic debris (VPD).
