What is A Brother about?

The narrator was excited when their mother became pregnant with a second child. However, their parents had wanted another boy and were disappointed to learn at an ultrasound that the baby was a girl. That night, the narrator overheard their parents saying they were going to "get rid of" the baby sister. The next day, their mother returned from the hospital alone, as their sister was no longer there. The narrator wishes they could have known and loved their sister.
