What is Green Composite Materials and Their Applications about?

In the early 1900s, the first natural fiber matrix polymer composites reinforced with paper and/or cotton was used (John and Thomas, 2008). Toward the mid-1900s, especially glass-fiber-reinforced plastic composites became commodity class due to their economic importance, and nowadays (Shah, 2013), glass-fiber-reinforced plastics became widespread in many different and large industrial areas such as electricity, electronics, sports, construction, and automotive. However, for the materials, which are used in aeronautical glass fibers are generally substituted with high cost and performance materials such as aramid and/or carbon which contain polymeric fibers (Abe and Yabuki, 2020). The use of such composites is a problem in automotive industry due to the high glass density (2.5 g/cm 3 ). The density increases energy consumption as a result of higher mass per unit volume. On the other hand, another disadvantage of such composites is their environmental impact that remains irreversible in their lifetime. Since the early 1990s, automotive companies and R&D organizations focused on low density (1.5 g/cm 3 ) and eco-friendly vegetable fibers as an alternative to glass fiber composites (Ra
