Religion und Politik waren im antiken Griechenland auf das Engste miteinander verwoben. Besonders deutlich manifestiert sich diese Symbiose in griechischen Heiligtümern als Orten kultischer Handlungen und zugleich politischen Agierens. Das Münsteraner Kolloquium analysiert die formative Funktion überregionaler Heiligtümer in Griechenland und der griechischen Inselwelt bei der Genese und Legitimation von politischer Ordnung in griechischen Stammesbünden und Bundesstaaten von der archaischen bis in die hellenistische Zeit.
