This work seeks to evaluate the convenience of adapting mixed-model assembly lines to the Just in Time ideology adopted by Lean Manufacturing by means of application of Heijunka concept into production sequences. To do this two mixed integer linear programming models have been solved by the IBM-CPLEX solver on the set of 23 Nissan-9Eng.I instances. Results show that, provided the production system have assistance of an information system based on Internet of Things Technology within the framework of Industry 4.0, profits outweigh losses. Specifically, given the data set and the results obtained, the loss generated by the incorporation of regularity (e133 per day in the worst case) is compensated by the leveling of intermediate stocks and workload balancing.
