What is Assessment of whiplash injuries through 3D digital CranioCorpoGraphy about?
Whiplash injuries mostly produce vestibular disorders. In the past years, many clinical exams were developed to evaluate equilibrium and vestibular diseases because of high incidence of social and economical costs related to these traumas. CranioCorpoGraphy (CCG) is one of the most common test which evaluates the pattern of movement of head and trunk [1]. In the recent years a 2D digital version of the CranioCorpoGraphy (dCCG) was developed [2] to get more quantitative data and clinical parameters. The aim of this work is to deepen the study of vestibular system through a 3D dCCG which assesses the 3D pattern of movement of head and trunk in different experimental set-up. Subjects were asked to step on the spot. Healthy people performed ten trials: with open eyes (OE), looking at a target, closed eyes (CE), blindfolded, blindfolded and wearing headphones (these 5 tests were repeated with a carpet). The whiplash people executed only four tests (OE and CE, with and without the carpet). Six markers (three on the head and three on the trunk) were placed on the subjects to compute displacements, speeds, and rotations of head and trunk. Results show rotations, speeds and displacements of
