What is Magdalena Jalandoni: Hiligaynon Literary Icon about?
Magdalena Jalandoni was a prolific Filipino writer from Iloilo who wrote extensively in Hiligaynon. She published many novels, poems, plays and other works over her lifetime while living in isolation in her family home. Her early life was influenced by her first love for Jose Rizal, and she continued writing about themes of love, society and history in the Philippines for many decades until her death at age 87 in 1978. She is now remembered as the preeminent writer in Hiligaynon language.
