Rizal had several romances throughout his life. His first love was Segunda Katigbak in 1877, but their romance was cut short due to shyness. Other loves included Miss L, Leonor Valenzuela, Leonor Rivera, Consuelo Ortiga y Perez, Seiko Usui, Gertrude Beckett, Petite Suzanne Jacoby, Nellie Boustead, and Josephine Bracken. His longest romance was with Josephine Bracken, whom he married in Dapitan in 1892. Unfortunately, their infant son Francisco only lived for three hours.
