About this document
RC Structure Design: Flat Slabs & Beams by RatulKumarMajumdar is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Flat slabs are reinforced concrete slabs supported by columns without beams, with a minimum thickness of 125 mm. They can be solid slabs or have recesses on the soffit. Beams are horizontal members that carry transverse loads and transmit them to vertical columns, resulting in flexural bending that creates compressive and tensile zones. The two types of beams are singly reinforced beams, which only have reinforcement in the tensile zone, and doubly reinforced beams, which have reinforcement in both zones.
