This study presents a 2-D computational model to investigate the quenching and near-limit propagation of smoldering combustion in biomass. The model predicts that smoldering quenching occurs with decreasing sample width or increasing wall-cooling coefficient, with minimum smoldering temperature around 350°C and propagation rate of 0.5 cm/h. This research enhances the understanding of smoldering fire phenomena, which is critical for fire safety and management.
