Can I read PaCO2 vs. End-Tidal PCO2 Explained on EtoBox?

PaCO2 vs. End-Tidal PCO2 Explained by phobicmd is a document available to read on EtoBox.

What is PaCO2 vs. End-Tidal PCO2 Explained about?

End-tidal PCO2 is the partial pressure of CO2 at the end of expiration and is lower than arterial PaCO2 and alveolar PCO2 due to dilution from CO2-free gas in alveolar dead space. A small normal difference of 2-5 mmHg exists due to this effect. Increased alveolar dead space from factors like low cardiac output can widen this difference by further diluting end-tidal PCO2. Measurement errors can also potentially cause differences between end-tidal and arterial PCO2.
