Orthographic projections represent 3D objects in 2D using parallel projection lines orthogonal to projection planes. There are two main types: first angle projections view the object from inside the box, while third angle projections view from outside. Axonometric projections reveal multiple sides of an object and include isometric views with equal sides and angles. Orthogonal projections are used to create multiple views that can then be combined or unfolded to represent a 3D object in 2D form.
