About this document

On-Farm Water Management in Punjab by Samanpreet Kaur is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study evaluated on-farm water management practices in two villages in Punjab, India. Farmers predominantly irrigated rice and wheat using tubewells or canals. Water was conveyed in earthen channels with no flow measurement. Farmers used personal judgement for irrigation scheduling and did not follow technical principles for field sizing. Recommendations included using water measurement devices, adopting precision leveling and bed sowing, discouraging early transplanting of rice, and constructing bunds
