This document presents an analysis of local buckling in fiber-reinforced plastic composite structural shapes. It develops explicit solutions for buckling of composite plates with elastically restrained edges and applies these to predict local buckling in common FRP beam and column sections. The solutions are validated with experiments and finite element analysis.
