What is Bandwidth Behaviour in Tandem-Connected Graded-Index Multimode Fibers about?
Mutual equalization between two graded-index fibers, having an over-compensated and an under-compensated profile, respectively, is analyzed theoretically. It is shown that this effect, which has been observed accidentally, could be used on purpose, for designing a long-haul link, and would yield the advantage of much looser tolerances in the fiber manufacturing process, for a given bandwidth of the link.
