What is Burj Al Arab: History of Chicago Beach about?

The Burj Al Arab is situated on an island of reclaimed land 280 meters offshore from the former Chicago Beach Hotel. The area was named after the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, which previously operated there. The name Chicago Beach persisted until the hotel was renamed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum after the old hotel was demolished in 1997.
