The Barangay Council is the governing body of a barangay, the smallest administrative division in the Philippines. It is composed of the Punong Barangay as the presiding officer and seven regular members called Sangguniang Barangay members. The Barangay Council is responsible for exercising legislative powers in order to enact ordinances and approve resolutions for the general welfare of the barangay.
