What is Lactate Levels vs. Clearance in Sepsis about?

This study aimed to compare initial lactate levels and lactate clearance at 4 hours after sepsis recognition as predictors of mortality in sepsis patients. Out of 41 subjects, 27 died within 28 days, with initial lactate levels showing greater sensitivity for predicting mortality than lactate clearance, although both had similar prognostic value. The findings suggest that while initial lactate levels are important, they do not significantly differ from lactate clearance in predicting sepsis mortality.
