Steroid Identification Tests Overview by Shahid pin is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The ethanolic soluble fraction was fractionated over a silica gel column eluted with chloroform and increasing concentrations of acetone. Fractions 7-10 tested positive for steroids using various chemical tests and were combined. These tests included the Salkowski reaction, which produced a reddish color in the chloroform layer, and the Liebermann-Burchard reaction, which turned the solution violet blue and then green, indicating the presence of steroids.
