Inflation rose to 2.0% in April 2018, up from 1.8% in March. The health and personal care sector contributed most to the year-over-year increase, advancing 4.1% due to higher health insurance and medicine costs. Food prices increased 3.0% while education, recreation and entertainment rose 2.4% year-over-year. Month-to-month, health and personal care climbed 2.9% in April as health insurance premiums increased 4.1%. Transportation costs also rose 1.4% in April.
