Valli had always wanted to ride the bus that passed through her village daily. One day, she mustered the courage to stop the bus from leaving and insisted on boarding to visit the nearby town. The conductor helped her onboard and everyone laughed at the small girl traveling alone. Though shy, Valli was determined and enjoyed the sights from her window until reminded that standing could be dangerous. She asserted that she was not a child but rather eight years old and capable of traveling independently.
