This study conducted a point-prevalence survey across seven Middle Eastern countries to estimate the prevalence of infections and antimicrobial use in acute-care hospitals. The overall infection prevalence was found to be 28.3%, with healthcare-associated infections at 11.2% and community-acquired infections at 16.8%. The high prevalence of infections and significant antimicrobial use highlight a pressing public health concern, particularly due to rising antimicrobial resistance in the region.
