Methods and Materials: Two hundred fifty-seven consecutive intermediate risk patients received prostate brachytherapy from 1998 to 2000. Half received supplemental external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), androgen ablation (AA) or both in addition to I 125 or Pd 103 brachytherapy. Risk group classification was by D'Amico criteria. Patients were followed prospectively. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 15.0 (SPSS Inc.). Monotherapy and boost cases were compared using independent samples t etests of means for continuous variables and c 2 tests of distributions for categorical variables. Probabilities of deviation from the null hypothesis of no significant difference (p-values) were marked if statistically significant (!0.05) or highly statistically significant (!0.01).
