This study compared immunological parameters in cattle infected with Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides SC (MmmSC), the cause of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP). The study found that all infected cattle developed a cell-mediated immune response to MmmSC. Recovered animals maintained a MmmSC-specific CD4 T-cell response that produced gamma interferon, while animals with acute disease showed a decreased immune response associated with disease progression. The identification of immune markers correla
