A snake charmer caught a poisonous snake and placed it in an earthen pot for safekeeping while he took a nap under a tree. A hungry monkey saw the pot of curd left by the sleeping charmer and stole the pot, not realizing there was a snake inside. When the monkey opened the pot, the angry snake bit it, and the poison killed the monkey. The monkey and broken pot fell on the charmer and revealed what had happened.
