About this document
Understanding the CMY Color Model is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The CMY color model uses cyan, magenta, and yellow to produce colors for printing and works through subtractive color mixing. In CMY, a color like red is produced by absorbing green and blue light, reflecting red light, so its CMY values are cyan and magenta. To print red with CMY, one would use cyan, magenta, and yellow values of 0, 1, 1 respectively. Most printers also include black (K) as a separate color to improve contrast, resulting in the CMYK color model.
