Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was a highly influential German philosopher born in 1770 in Stuttgart. He studied at the University of Tübingen where he befriended Hölderlin and Schelling. Hegel went on to make major contributions to logic, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, political philosophy and aesthetics.
