A 9-month-old, male, neutered, mixed-breed dog was presented to the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care (UWVC) for evaluation of dermal lesions, marked left prescapular lymphadenomegaly, hyporexia, and lethargy. The skin lesions had been present for 2 weeks, and on presentation to UWVC, there were several generalized, raised, erythematous, ulcerated dermal nodules/masses measuring 1-2 cm in diameter. Fine-needle aspiration of two dermal nodules exhibited similar findings (Figure 1). Abdominal ultrasound showed enlarged abdominal lymph nodes and a mottled spleen. Fine-needle aspiration of the spleen revealed rare large round cells similar to those in the dermal nodules. The patient had a histiocytoma resected with clean margins 5 months prior.
