The Surti breed is found in the Charottar region of Gujarat between the Mahi and Sabarmati rivers, with the best animals in Anand, Nadiad, and Baroda districts. The Surti buffaloes are medium-sized with a docile temperament, broad and long head with a convex shape between sickle-shaped horns that grow downward, backward, then up. They have black or brown skin and an unique straight back, with good specimens having two white collars.
