This document describes a case study of a 24-year-old woman with cancer who was treated with high doses of topically applied lidocaine (Lidoderm patches) for severe neuropathic pain over 23 months. She applied up to 10 Lidoderm patches containing a total of 7000 mg of lidocaine daily for pain relief. Blood tests found lidocaine levels up to 0.47 mg/mL, which is below toxic levels.
