When there is aggressive pounding at the door, Mandala fears it is the woman, but discovers instead that his friend Khweya has been arrested and police have come to arrest him as well. The story describes their cramped journey on a crowded mini-bus to the Dedza bus station, where Mandala and Khweya exit amidst squalid and decaying surroundings.
