What is New Greek Oregano Clones about?
Four new Greek oregano clones were analyzed for their essential oil content and composition. Carvacrol was the predominant constituent in all clones, ranging from 79.5% to 93% of the total oil. The clone named Olympus had the highest carvacrol content at 93% and was considered the most efficient based on high dry weight yield and oil content. Gas chromatography revealed that phenols like carvacrol and thymol, along with γ-terpinene and p-cymene, were the main constituents in the essential oils of all clones
